  • 4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 4 tsp. of unsalted butter
  • 1.5 tsp. of baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. of cinnamon powder
  • 3 tsp. of grated/ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp. Allspice
  • ¼ tsp. of salt
  • 1 ¼ cup of packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp. of molasses
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • ½ cup of water

  • Preheat your oven to 177℃ and line the baking sheet with the silicone mat or parchment paper and put aside ready to use.

  • Mix your dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl- flour, baking soda, baking powder, allspice, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt and whist thoroughly to combine.

Cream the sugar and butter

  • In another mixing bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, butter, water, vanilla and molasses.

Mix dry and wet ingredients

  • Make a well at the center of the flour mix and pour the butter mixture, then stir with a wooden spoon into a soft but slightly sticky dough.
  • Dust a clean surface with flour and transfer the dough there, knead it into a smooth dough.

Finish preparing the dough

  • Roll the dough to a half inch thickness and cut circular shapes the size of a biscuit. You can use a medium-sized bowl or biscuit cutter

Bake and serve

  • Arrange them on the baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes.
  • After you have baked, brush some melted butter for some glow, allow them to cool and serve.
